With nine hours left to vote, Boba Fett is winning his first matchup in the This Is Madness: Star Wars Character Tournament by 94 percent. This would prove a landslide victory against Greedo in the tournament’s first round of 32 battles.

Upon finalizing his victory, Boba Fett will next face either Cad Bane or Jango Fett.  Last year, Boba Fett made it to the final four after defeating Dengar, Jango Fett and Emperor Palpatine – until succumbing to Darth Vader during his final bout.

StarWars.com has stepped up their coordination of this year’s tournament, after listening to criticism last year about some matches not being evenly matched. There’s also a number of fresh faces in this year’s event, but I’m excited to see three Mandalorians included this time around – Boba Fett, Jango Fett and Pre Vizsla.

Greedo had to defeat three bounty hunting peers to earn his spot against Boba Fett in a preliminary match, but most people could easily predict Boba Fett’s win during this round. His second round battle against either Jango Fett or Cad Bane could prove more difficult though, as both have an arguably equal sized fan base that could pull votes – especially younger fans that are endeared to Cad Bane.

So, make sure you tell your friends to come out and vote for #TeamBoba. We came so close to the finals last year – this time let’s bring home the gold! Help spread the word by using #TeamBoba and #ThisIsMadness on Twitter.

We’ve written an editorial in response to the recent Boba Fett feature in Star Wars Insider #146. We’ve also announced our own investigative feature story on the multi-generational popularity of Boba Fett, read the whole editorial at BobaFett.com for details on how you may weight in.

The latest issue of Star Wars Insider is now available on newsstands, featuring a cover story on how Boba Fett’s popularity has endured and flourished over the last 30 plus years. As a contributing member of the Boba Fett community, I was left wanting.

In September, Jonathan Wilkins, Star Wars Insider editor, alerted followers of an upcoming Boba Fett feature on his Twitter account. He prompted fans to weigh in on a singular question: Why do you think Boba Fett is so popular? I imagined this was an initial way to mine data for early stages of research, but turned out to only be used to generate sidebar content.

The article did a well enough job explaining Boba Fett’s in-universe adventures, from his debut in the Holiday Special to his life in the Expanded Universe. But was any of the information new or insightful? No, it was nothing that couldn’t already be found on Wookipedia. While it looked at one writer’s ongoing appreciation for Boba Fett, the story failed to look at the character’s fandom as a whole.

Fanboy Moments is starting to promote their upcoming Bounty Bonanza tour, which hits the land down under the first week of March.

This is a dream lineup of scum and villainy – featuring appearances by Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Paul Blake (Greedo) and sculptor and prop builder Brian Muir as special guests.

Everyone is familiar with Bulloch and Blake, but for those not privy to Muir – he’s been involved in a hoard of pop culture franchises like Harry Potter, James Bond, Star Wars (of course),  Dark Crystal, Indiana Jones and more.

This event is different in dynamic compared to your usual convention. It’s designed to allow fans to “hang out” and socialize with their onscreen favorites, rather than a few minutes at an autograph table.

This event is early in planning, so who knows if more performers will be added to the roster of guests.

The two stops scheduled so far are Adelaine on March 1, Melbourne on March 2, Brisbane on March 7 and Sydney on March 8. Tickets range from $90 to $450, depending on what experience you can afford.
